(aka Garlic Toast Pizza or Frozen Garlic Toast Pizza)
At the end of a busy day, I sometimes a shortcut for pizza is the answer. My Texas Toast pizza is an easy-to-make hack that is also delicious! All it takes is some frozen Texas Toast (or Garlic Toast, or Frozen Garlic Bread, which I think are extra delicious) and a few other ingredients that come together to make a satisfying snack or meal!

Let me tell you why I like this recipe. Fast. Delicious. Easy.
But…Learn from My Mistakes!
A lot of things, and I mean A LOT, went wrong when I first made it. I forgot to defrost the Texas Toast, so I popped it in the mikey on defrost. It didn’t quite get there, and I accidentally ripped the crust off one piece of bread when I tried to separate them. Then, I dropped my phone in the pan while taking pictures. Lastly, I accidentally flipped a piece upside down when I was plating, and a bunch of the toppings fell off. So, they’re not the prettiest pieces of pizza, but ultimately… they were still delicious! And if you can still get a tasty meal after so many mistakes, that’s a win in my book!
I think you’ll like this pizza hack, too – despite my issues, I learned from my mistakes and can pass that knowledge on to you. For instance, use a spatula, not tongs! And, they still came together quickly and so easily that any child you trust with a stovetop can make these as an after-school snack. Or, it’s easy enough to throw a few more in the pan and add a salad for a quick dinner.
Ingredients for Texas Toast Pizza

- Need one piece of tinfoil big enough to cover your skillet or cast iron pan
- 4 pieces of frozen Texas Toast/Garlic Bread/Frozen Garlic Bread. You can use homemade or a brand of your preference. The thick-slice style works best. I used the Kroger brand Frozen Garlic Texas Toast
- 3 oz pizza sauce, homemade or store-bought. I used our Slow Cooked Tomato Sauce
- 2 oz preferred toppings (the weight may vary according to what toppings you choose)
- 2 Tb grated Pecorino Romano (about 0.5 oz)
- ¼ cup Mozzarella (about 1 oz)
How to Make Texas Toast Pizza
Defrost your Texas Toast if using frozen. If still frozen, put in the microwave on defrost according to your microwave’s directions.
Warm up a skillet or cast iron pan on medium-low. Toast one side of the Texas Toast until desired brown and crispiness level is reached. Flip the toast over and turn the skillet to low. The next step takes a few minutes, and you don’t want the other side to burn.

Carefully top the toast with sauce, your preferred toppings and cheese. Place the tinfoil over the top of the skillet so the cheese can melt. Let it sit covered for 5 minutes.

Turn off the skillet and carefully remove your tasty, crispy, crunchy Texas Toast Pizza from the skillet, and enjoy!

Substitutions and Variations for Making Texas Toast Pizza
You can mix it up with all sorts of toppings and sauces! Try pesto with some chicken and asparagus. Unusual? Yes! Delicious? Absolutely! Like it spicy? Add some jalapenos or for the truly brave hot spicy-ophile, maybe some Wicked Reaper Hot Sauce (or your favorite hot sauce) mixed into your pizza sauce! If you dig sourdough bread, you can spread garlic butter on one side of day-old sourdough and use that instead.
